GLADSTONE CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHER and ARTIST
Hey There!
I'm Kara, and I am a Mother, a Wife and an Artist in most fields. I have been in the photography Industry now for about 13 years, and I've always had a passion for all things creative. If I wasn't using up all the film in my parents disposable cameras or running their point and shoot 2008 model Olympus' batteries flat, taking photos - I was found in my bedroom or the art room with a pen in hand, creating random characters and drawing anything that came to mind. So what better way than to offer the Gladstone region (and beyond) What I LOVE to do? They say you don't work a day in your life if you enjoy what you do.
Well, Its a real passion for me.
I've always wanted to help others in any way that I can, Some have taken advantage of that, But I have learnt over the years. If i can make a difference in someone's life, I'll always try my best. What better way than to do so, through my photography? I've always been afraid to stand out from the crowd but now I've found where and who I am meant to be, I want to offer ways to help others do the same. Embracing who they are, and what they do.
About Me
Born and raised on the Wild West Coast of Tasmania, and a lover of everything Nostalgic, I feel as though I was born into creating art, and capturing memories for people. Tasmania is a pretty artistic state (with beautiful landscapes and locations aswell) and my family were all pretty creative too!
I then met my now husband through mutual friends, Moved to Gladstone at the end of 2013 - Back to Tasmania with him late 2016 after we married, and back here to Gladstone with him and our son late 2020! Yep, I've travelled... ALOT (Between two states, But I promise I'm not going anywhere now) - I was finally given the opportunity to pursue my creative/photography career full time and I'm so so glad that I did, Its everything I love and more!
My daily coffee order is with a shot of Hazelnut - everytime. I can't have milk that tastes like real milk and I have a terrible laugh, so I apologize in advance if you hear it. Buuut If it makes you laugh, I've captured some good natural smiles so that's a plus! I'm a self proclaimed weirdo, I have a strange sense of humor and I'm socially awkward at times, (Hello anxiety).. I'm a bit of a space nerd, I love all things astrology, and I collect rocks... Pretty rocks though, the shiny, colorful, crystal kind. I'm also the type to just dance randomly, or just be silly at home or when I'm comfortable around people, My husband is probably always second guessing his decision, and its probably why my son does it too haha. I'm a huge fan of old skool everything, and our son was actually named after Travis barker and His son, Landon. The best way to describe my style, even a little in my photography/art, Is dark.. Moody, edgy, punky, grungy etc. If I were an adult in the Late 80's/Early 90's, id be in my element. With an old HQ Torana Ute, In Blue. Ripped Jeans, Leather Jacket, and blasting music like Guns'N'Roses, Roxette or Bon Jovi. haha. But, Yeah anything from the 80's to the early 00's is my jam! My fave place to be is on the beach. I love the city lights at night and I love a good graffiti wall, I'm also a sucker for urban/industrial. I love abandoned buildings and the history behind them.
Whilst I'm editing I'm usually playing that kind of music, or listening to true crime docos. My biggest soft spot in photography is LOVE, connections, and seeing the bonds between you and yours. All those warm and fuzzies and I'm here for it. Either that or adventure, doing things differently, creatively, and being unapologetically yourself. If you see me randomly getting excited like a child at Christmas time, it's because I'm THAT passionate and I've most likely gotten THE shot. But, I'll get excited wayyy more than once, haha
I LOVE unique, and My main goal is to bring out what makes YOU unique.
